About Michał Szpak
Michał Szpak is Poland’s choice for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. In this year’s national final in Warsaw, the young singer defeated Edyta Górniak, the former Polish representative in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. On stage in Stockholm Michał will perform Color Of Your Life.
Michał Szpak was born on 26th November, 1990 in Jasło (Poland). Michał started singing when he was nine years old. Being a student Michał was part of the band Whiplash that plays mostly hard rock. In 2011 Michał Szpak participated in the Polish TV talent show X Factor where he performed together with the British edition’s winner, Aleksandra Burke, and came second in the final. In the same year the singer participated inthe Orange Warsaw Festival along with such artists as Moby, Skunk Anansie, My Chemical Romance and others.
In 2013 Michał Szpak won the main prize, the Golden Samovar, at the Russian Song Festival in Zielona Góra, performing a song Dark Eyesknown to every generation in Poland.
Michał's song Real Hero was released as his first single. Michał sang this piece, originally entitled Jesteś Bohaterem, at the 52nd National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in the competition SuperPremieres 2015. His first album is called Byle być sobą.
